Dr. Bakty On Migraines

People afflicted with migraines are becoming more and more common. If you suffer from them, chances are you have taken prescriptive medications, which are frequently not the best front-line approach to migraines as they do not always address the underlying triggers for the migraines, can have undesirable side effects associated with their use, and do not always work.

Suffering through the pounding torture and discomfort becomes the only option - left wanting to close yourself off in a dark room to endure it. Migraines usually present themselves to patients in a variety of ways, including nausea and vomiting, pulsating and throbbing pain, and sensitivity to light.

When thinking about treating migraine pain with drugs that have potentially serious side effects, one thing to consider is that these headaches are more than likely a result of the body being unbalanced due to smoking, caffeine, vitamin deficiency, and so on.

Several supplements have excellent efficacy when used to treat migraines, and carry far fewer health risks than most prescriptions.

Acupuncture - increases blood flow to tissues and has been shown in studies to prevent migraines.

Butterbur- one the main ingredients in this herb, petasin, reduces inflammation and can prevent the swelling that leads to migraines.

Fever few - has been proven to relax the tension and constricted blood vessels, easing the painful pressure. It also reduces inflammation.

Vitamin B2 - An effective preventive treatment for migraines.

Melatonin - has been shown effective to help migraines when taken consistently.

Magnesium - Magnesium deficiency could very well be the cause of your headaches and migraines. Correct the deficiency, and end the migraines.

Magnesium supplements can also aid in relieving a headache a headache that’s already begun.

Last, but probably most important, make the necessary dietary corrections. Avoid alcohol, along with foods containing tyramine, tannins, nitrites, sulfates, and common additives.  Above all, there is no substitute for water. When you are thirsty, it is water and only water. Drink half your body weight in ounces of water each day.

Determining the root cause of the with the aid of your physician is essential to proper treatment.
